Cape Fear & Western Steam Boat Company (1839 - )
   The Cape Fear & Western Steam Boat Company was chartered on Jan. 3, 1839 by the legislature. Duncan G. MacRae (May 6, 1808 - March 2, 1889) was authorized to form the company with 300 shares totaling $30,000 in capital.
    



   The company was required to carry freight at 25% less than the rates printed in 1825 by the Henrietta Steam Boat Company.
   The freight company was authorized to travel between Fayetteville and Wilmington.
